There are lots of things I could be doing right now. I’m sat in the middle of London in a hotel. I don’t get down here to the capital very often, and so I could be making the most of it. It’s a nice day, and I’m right be Hyde Park so I could have a wander through there, or there’s the tube just round the corner which opens up a world of, well just about any amount of things I could go and see, or take part in.

So, whats keeping me here. Well, right now, its young Milton Keynes duo Reporters. The pair, Dan Stock the Lead Vocalist guitarist and songwriter of the pair, and Josh Ringsell who provides Drums & Backing Vocal, got together last year and taking inspiration from a whole range of sources, including fellow duo’s The Black Keys and Drenge began writing some good old-fashioned rock n roll tunes. This initially resulted in their self released debut, which sparked the interest of many and led to support slots with The Dead Sons and The Weeks.

So now they’ve been into the studio again, and recorded a new ep which comes out on October 28th, Trouble Last Morning. All done in a day, it was recorded to give it that stripped down, laid back almost live feeling, and from it the band have previewed the lead track on the ep, Meet Me in the Morning.

It bolts through the gates at the beginning, with the sound and voices seemingly richer, more grown up than the two boys in the video seem capable of. And its good too, bounding along with Libertines like enthusiasm, and Drenge like attitude. It’s skitty, twisting and turning while remaining this sort of lo-fi singalong. And then, its gone. Short and incredibly sweet.

Ah well, once you’ve seen one capital city you’ve seen them all, I suppose.
