20 thousand plus fans on his Facebook site suggest that it’s only really me that needs to discover french producer Kulkid, but if you’d kindly play along and indulge me somewhat, I’d certainly appreciate it.

He’s produced a number of highly regarded remixes in recent times, including a rather brilliant remix to celebrate the15th anniversary of Brandy & Monica‘s ‘The boy is mine’, which Kulkid remembered despite being only 9 at the time, and was an exercise in pure nostalgia for him.

He’s reimagined it with a cooler, housier background, this sort of almost chiming keyboard giving way to almost a deep house bass style as the track develops. What he has kept though is the soul and flow of the original, which leaves the track older, wiser, cooler even.

Following on from that he’s released his brand new track, U were the one a shimmering slice of new house (or could it be nu-house?) its largely made up of vocal samples which say, unsurprisingly enough U were the one, heavily altered with effects though, but it has this¬† late night/early morning feel about the track, the bird noises bringing you to that time when there’s not much left of the dark and your still out. There’s enough to keep you on the dancefloor, but similarly enough to have you stood eyes closed in the cold air of the morning.

I knew he’d be good, I just didn’t realise he’d be this good.
