We’ve written about LOLO before. The Brooklyn (via Memphis) singer has engaged and impressed us here at Backseat Mafia with her previous online releases, including ‘Weapon For Saturday’, ‘Heard it from a friend’ and ‘Year round Summer of love’. She now has an official release ahead of her debut album (also called Weapons for Saturday) Gangsters, which features XL records Rapper Giggs, and comes out via Island Records on 10th February.

It kicks off full of Soul, the classic Motown sound updated for 2014, with Giggs breathing his approval while the tracks takes a minute to step back into this moment of deep house, before propelling onward. It’s fun and funky, and Giggs’ languid delivery suits the vibe of the song, which as well as being funky, is also totally catchy.

It’s is sort of form that’s landed LOLO with a support slot on the John Newman tour, ticking off towards the end of the month. she will be also playing a series of weekly UK shows early in the new year, details to be announced. It’s all building to a big 2014 for LOLO, and we can’t wait.
