In Australia, the term ‘Gold Class’ is synonymous with an upmarket cinema brand where you can recline in a smaller theatre and be fed morsels as you watch the movie. An apt name indeed for a band emanating out of Melbourne Australia that is offering something that is far above the mundane.

The single, ‘Get Yours’, from Gold Class is quite frankly an astonishing delicacy – to stretch the already overladen analogy – for those who appreciate muscular bass and guitar driven attitude-laden rock straight from the menu of bands ranging from The Smiths through to Killing Joke and, on a more contemporary level, Editors. Eighties new wave post-punk – raw yet sophisticated – with a Melbourne accent.

The spine of the song is an insistent, rumpling, circular bass line with shards of clattering demonic guitar tearing throughout and Adam Curley’s vocals that cannot help recall Morrissey. This is extraordinarily good fare and it is a rare pleasurefor me to hear something so new and exciting.

The video, shot at one of Gold Class’s recent sold out concerts indicates this is a band that can deliver the goods live.

The single is off Gold Class’s debut album ‘Drum’ due out on 18 August 2017 which can be preordered here.

The band is completing its current tour of Australia (see below) and has plans to tour the album through Europe.
