We missed this when it dropped right at the end of last month, but it was too good to miss out completely. Fresh from his Waifs & Strays ‘Keep Pushing’ EP, which saw the label get support from the likes of Groove Armada and Tensnake, London based producer Pierre Codarin came back with a new EP, this time for Resonance Records, titled ‘Seconds to Go’. As label chief Max Chapman commented “he brings three dark and energetic tracks that are good for any dance floor, with previous releases on Leftroom, Sincopat, Saints & Sonnets and more he’s definitely one to watch.”
Title-track ‘Seconds To Go’ is brooding techno, rippling percussion and these muscilar synth stabs in evidence, as it alternates between dark and light, throwing in (female) vocal snatches as it leads you down an eerily ambient path. Follow on One more drink, soaked in echo and atmospherics is similarly eerie, the cold light of day starting to appear after a long night out maybe. There’s more female vox that light it up, as well as this tumbling percussion sounds.
The EP closes with 6am on the terrace, full of oscillating pads, winding, evolving percussion and warm echoey bass work which leads onto this dark, yet warm ep.
