Track: The Outdoor Type – When the Sun Goes Down

I certainly answwered in the affirmative when I reviewed the debut single from The Outdoor Type, ‘Are You Happy?’ at the beginning of this year. I went out on a limb as well, seeing a great future for this solo act working under the name The Outdoor Type.

Well, The Outdoor Type has come up with the goods again with his new single, ‘When the Sun Goes Down’, which is off his forthcoming EP due out on 1 May. Again, there’s something uniquely Australian about this song – due in no doubt to the unashamedly Australian diction, but also with that certain dark-tinged sunshine sparkle that is found in bands like The Triffids and The Go-Betweens:

It’s a song seemingly celebrating the transience of life and the need to enjoy every moment, with a crescendoing chorus that’s as expansive and bright as an Australian sky in summer. Musically, there is a an unusual mix of electronica and acoustic instruments that work really well together and provides the song with a fresh, distinctive sound.

You can purchase the song through iTunes. I’m looking forward to the EP.
