Tracks: Tourists – Quiet Room

If you caught previous single Cut and Run, you’ll probably be on high alert for new music from Torquay five piece Tourists. Worry not, because with new single Quiet Room, they’ve hit gold again. Already catching the ears of Radio 1, they’ve just played The Academy as part of the build up to the BBC Radio 1’s big weekend in Exeter, as well as that perennial purveyor of new music, Huw Stevens.

Filled with harmonies, little synth lines and a tumbling guitar figure, Quiet Room has this warmth about it that wraps itself around you like a comfort blanket. Whether its the bassline, or the chimes, or just that most melodic of tunes its hard to say. It’s north of the 1975 but south of Talk Talk. And that’s not half a bad place to be.

Its a busy time for the band, who play a handful of shows over the summer including their first headline show in London on Friday 1st July – the band are continuing to record material for their debut album with producer James Bragg (Gengahr). Catch them at:
