Track: Ty – Kick Snare and an Idea Part 3

New year, new music from Ty. And it’s something we’re looking forward to a lot, following parts 1 & 2 of the London rappers ‘Kick Snare and an Idea’ series. It’s been heightened further by the inclusion of a remix from the NYC DJ and producer DJ Spinna.

Out on 20th January on Tru Thoughts, the EP features a brand new track ‘It’s Alright’ it’s quirky lyrics explained by Ty as “It’s for those situations where you need to hear ‘It’s alright… It’s not so bad… It’s not great but it’s not the end of the world’ – it’s something that I need to hear constantly!”
It’s co-produced by Ty and his regular studio partner Drew Horley, and features additional vocals by Sharlene Hector. It has this sort of 90’s RnB feel about it, as well as Ty’s languid rhyming that, as ever, steals the show.

The other track is the DJ Spinna of the standout track from all the Kick Snare and an Idea releases, Knock Knock. He’s dragged it into the early morning, with its warm, spacey feeling, and then kicked it into the leftfield. It’s more than good, its and essential 2014 ep release, and its only January 2nd.

ahead of the release, knock yourselves out with the original of Knock Knock.
