News: Laura Jane Grace Releases Memoir – Out Now

Laura Jane Grace of Against Me has penned her memoir titled ‘TRANNY: Confessions of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout’.

In Billboard’s list of 100 greatest music books of all time, Grace describes in great detail the personal turmoil she has faced as a transgender woman in the punk rock scene. Co-written by music journalist, Dan Ozzi, the book touches on subjects like sex, drugs, failed marriages, parenthood and the struggles she faced overcoming these issues.

Grace does not hold back her emotions, she is brutally honest within her explanations in her quest to find her true identity. This book brings to light the issues surrounding gender acceptance and how Laura spent 30 years of her life searching for who she really was- all in secret, only detailed in journals and hidden in lyrics. Since coming out as transgender in 2012, Laura Jane Grace has become an advocate for transgender awareness and has created a web series titled “True Trans” which in 2015 was nominated for an Emmy award.

TRANNY also reveals the story of Against Me! the punk band who formed in 1997 as one of the most influential bands in the scene. It describes their struggle with the evolution of the band, the trouble with drummers and legal problems.
