Premiere: The Midnight Club reveal new video for Scream

Denver Colorado four piece The Midnight Club harness the spirit of Queen and David Bowie, as well as a good old dollop of Glam Rock, but give it their own modern twist. Their new single Scream – produced by former Rooney member Taylor Locke, is full of Queen-isms, close harmonies from the boys, a theatrical outlook to things, but sharp songwriting full of melody and obligatory May-esque guitar solo. It’s a hell of a ride.

Of the track, the band say “We were compelled to write ‘Scream’ to introduce more theatricality to our music. Lyrically, the song is about dealing with the loss of a loved one. The bombastic nature of the instrumental arrangement combined with the somber tone of the lyrics show how unpredictable your feelings can be in the grieving process.”

The accompanying video sees the band delve into Queen imagery – the diamond formation when singing in harmony a clear nod to Freddie Mercury and gang. Elsewhere in the video the band perform the track in a variety of situations – on a rooftop, against a myriad of backdrops. Singer Owen Coleman lights up the whole thing, not just with his soaring vocal but with an incredible suit.
