Say Psych: Track: Death Valley Girls – Disaster (Is What We Are After)

Los Angeles glam/psych rockers Death Valley Girls have announced that their third studio album Darkness Rains is scheduled for release on 5th October on Suicide Squeeze Records and released the lead track ‘Disaster (Is What We’re After) for digestion.

The video has been causing a stir, with Iggy Pop recreating the famous Andy Warhol Eating a Hamburger short film. It was directed by Kansas Bowling and shot on 16mm film.

When asked about the choice of video, the band said “we’re strong believers in opti-mysticism and connecting with people through rock ‘n’ roll. Having Iggy dig our music was more than amazing for us. When Kansas told us she had a dream about recreating the ‘Andy Warhol Eating a Hamburger’ short film but with Iggy starring for our music video, we were cautiously excited about the possibility. Next thing we know we’re in Miami with Iggy himself and a rock ‘n’ roll dream became reality!”

The track itself feature elements that fans will love, from the hypnotic riffs to the empowered lyrics and the pulsating drum beat that holds it all together. It is the perfect track to follow on from LP Glow In The Dark which saw them gain worldwide acclaim and at the same time shows their progression.
