See: Great Lake Swimmers reveal video for The Talking Wind, plus new album news

Out this friday, 13th April is a new six track EP titled side effects from acclaimed indie-folk/rock band Great Lake Swimmers. It features new new songs “The Talking Wind”, “Falling Apart” and “Side Effects” as well as fan favourites “Your Rocky Spine”, “Quiet Your Mind” and “I Became Awake”.

The Talking Wind begins with intertwining woodwind lines, serenely moving within these folk moods, lead-singer/songwriter Tony Dekker’s vocal swooning over the top of the accompaniment, the melody intimate and memorable. As it unfurls, so there’s more vocal harmonies and (or all things) a clarinet solo, but if this doesn’t hit you right in the feels, then there’s something dead inside of you.

The band have also announced that their new album ‘The Waves, The Wake’ is out on August 17th via Nettwerk Records. Recorded in the 145-year-old Bishop Cronyn Memorial Church in London, Ontario and produced by Chris Stringer (Timber Timbre, The Wooden Sky, Elliot Brood), Tony decided to challenge himself by writing new music without any acoustic guitar, which has always been his instrumental mainstay. He further digressed from previous songwriting patterns by looking at each track individually and then tailoring the instrumentation to bring each song to life in its own distinctive way.
