See: Weaves reveal video for Tick

Toronto-based Weaves’ new video for “Tick,” directed by Benjamin Dabu, should come with a trigger warning for anyone going through a midlife crisis or anyone whose dad is acting a bit stupidly right now. Canadian comedian, podcaster, and obvious good sport Chris Locke amusingly portrays a man of a certain age whose own midlife crisis is set off by Weaves’ music.

Weaves guitarist Morgan Waters, who co-edited the video, says, “The video is about the incessant ticking of the clock, nagging at you to realize your dreams, and the gentle reminder that sometimes dreams should remain fantasy. Music makes you feel young. But what happens when you’re suddenly the old guy at a party trying to get the roach going? Our friend, and brilliant comedian Chris Locke, plays a man who stares into the void, hears our song and experiences a midlife crisis.”

Chris Locke posted about the video on Facebook: “Midlife crisis? Yes. In the world of cool rock bands and hip kids I am middle aged already.
I love this band and this vid was so fun to make!”

Weaves’ self-titled debut album, described by NPR as “a sonic treat,” is out today on Kanine (US), Buzz Records (Canada), and Memphis Industries (the rest of the world).
