Track: Aimee Mann – Patient Zero, plus album news

Aimee Mann has consistently delivered beautiful and thought provoking since her debut solo album ‘Whatever’. It’s hard to believe that was over twenty years ago, but it’s still a record that keeps popping to the surface again and again in my listening material, and still sounds as fresh as the day it was released. Much water has gone under the bridge since then, several albums and an Academy award nomination, and Aimee is back with album number nine. We recently had a taster with the chilled out ‘Goose snow Cone’. The second song from the album is the equally laid back ‘Mental Patient’, and there’s a video to go with it too. No doubt the loveliest video you will ever see featuring a hermit crab.

After the more upbeat sound of the previous album ‘Charmer’, her new album ‘Mental Illness’ is set to slow things down and show off her sensitive, folkier side. It’ her first solo collection in five years, and is due to drop 31st March.
