Track: Chrome Sparks – What’s it gonna take

Chrome Sparks, aka Jeremy Malvin, is back with a new single, ‘What’s it gonna take, out on Ninja Tune imprint Counter Records. It’s the Brooklyn producers third outing for the label, and showcases his pop sensibilities as he mixes it up with hip-hop and club music influences. Explaining the themes behind the track, Malvin says, “We’re all passengers on the emotional tilt-a-whirl of a budding romance at some point. It can be thrilling and exhausting and maddening and inspiring and so hard to pin down. ‘What’s It Gonna Take’ is Angie’s and my take on that ephemeral unrest you feel when getting to know somebody intimately.”

Full of cascading electronics and interwoven synth lines, it’s backed by this trap-like drum track, and features Angelica Bess on vocals. She lays on the soul, as the backing electronica shimmers and shudders, giving the whole thing this slightly trippy feel. It’s electronic gold – check it out, here

The single precedes more new music to come soon on Counter, as well as a co-headline North American tour with Machinedrum in 2018.
