Track: Cross Record – PYSOL My Castle

Cross Record, aka Emily Cross of Loma, has had an eventful time of it since her last album Wabu Sabi. She’s got divorced, stopped drinking and become a death douma, as well as touring with the aforementioned Loma. Seems despite that she’s had enough time on her hands to write and record a second, self-titled album, out on August 2nd via Ba Da Bing, and from it she’s shared a new track – PYSOL My Castle.

The track, full title, Put Your Shoes on Leave My Castle is a beautifully sedate thing, with quiet, lapping electronics, and creaks like a wooden boat gently swaying. Her vocal, soft and warm but clear, sits on top, with the ethereal and rather lovely melody left to wash over you.

Inspired by a visit to a bustling, overcrowded Mexican street market, the track describes her search for a clear and focused mind: “Walking through the plaza in a dream // All these people reaching out // touching me. I cannot take what you are giving // You cannot break the bubble I’m living in.
