Track: Gnoomes – Cascais

describing their particular brand of psych-rock as being ‘Stargaze’, Russian trio Gnoomes are back with a new track ‘Cascain’, taken from their forthcoming album ‘Tschak!’, out on Rocket Recordings on March 10th. As the band explain, the whole recording process and their lives around it have been surrounded with some uncertainty.

“Our vocalist has been almost taken into the Russian Army, while some of us were caught by the police for being high, and the court sentenced [the members] to five days in prison and one year of visiting a narcologist every month,” the band relate. “So we haven’t had an opportunity to use psychedelics during the recording process. It was a challenge for us to find the legal ways to make psych music without it, but we thought that it’s not so bad, we could find the best way in daily life and simple things that surrounded us.”

Built on this motorik synth bassline that gives the whole thing a real sense of Krautrock, Gnoomes show of their experimental side, with swathes of electronics and cut up,echoey vocals mixed in with this real psych sense, guitars arcing and swirling over the top of things.
