Track: Imperial Daze – People are Animals

Following a brilliant debut last year with one of my favourite singles of last year, ‘Always Settling’, Peckham’s Imperial Daze are back with another fantastic single ‘People are Animals’.

Of the release, the band says it “hints at the glaring contradiction that, although we are ever more digitally connected, these digital connections can ultimately be incredibly superficial and render us alien to those around us. This is a point often made, but as animals, we are less and less present with our kind. The concepts of digital immediacy, AI, pornography and the potential mental malaise and degradation of the mind due to technological addiction come in to play here.”

This is, indeed, intelligent indie pop at its psychedelic best: painting a cinematic scope with its instrumental splashes, driving rhythms and studied cool:

‘People are Animals’ is grand fusion of a dream pop reverie and muscular indie rock with swagger and style. Imperial Daze are very, very exciting. Imperial Daze will be releasing their new EP ‘Surfaces Sensibles’ on 7th June via Tip Top Recordings. In the meantime, you can catch them on tour at the following dates and get the single here:
