Track: Jamiroquai – Cloud 9, plus live/festival dates

Future funk legends Jamiroquai are back with a new album ‘Automaton’, out via Virgin EMI on March 31st. Written and self-produced by Jay Kay and keyboardist Matt Johnson, its the bands first new music in seven years and the eighth album of a stellar career.

From it the band have released the first single to be taken from the album – Cloud 9, about which Jay Kay comments “Cloud 9 is a song that’s written in the style that I hope people know us for and are familiar with. It’s a song that if anyone that has been jilted and yet found love somewhere else will no doubt relate to. Can’t wait for you to hear it – get in the car stick it on the radio and just drive.”

If you were even remotely worried that Jay Kay and the boys had lost their funk, then rest easy. Cloud 9 is right up there with the best things they’ve done. Pumping bass, with this insistent, interjecting guitar lines, Jay Kay is bang on form, delivering something that’s effortlessly funky, and ridiculously melodic.

With both dates selling out within one minute, the shows are shaping up to be two of the most in-demand and highly-anticipated concerts this year.
