Track: Josh Rouse – Businessman

A year touring his critically acclaimed eleventh album, The Embers of Time, saw acclaimed singer songwriter Josh Rouse hanker for a change. “Coming off such a heavy record, I wanted to try something different,” he explains. “I wanted to explore new sounds and write with a fresh backdrop.” He’s certainly done that with his new album Love in the Modern Age, out on Yep Roc Records on April 13th. He’s traded in his trusty acoustic guitar for an 80s style synths, and in the same way his 1972 record captured a moment in time, or at least the aesthetics of it, so Love in the Modern Age does, its just that day is one inhabited by the Blue Nile, Roxy Music and the like.

New single Businessman is a case in point – analogue synth sounds and sparkling porudction vie with classic songwriting and this sultry Saxophone solo. Check it out, here

Singer-songwriter Josh Rouse will release his new album Love in the Modern Age on April 13, 2018 via Yep Roc Records. Forbes premieres the 80’s inspired single “Businessman” with an exclusive interview and calls the album “a sterling collection that is joyous, upbeat and, most importantly, feels completely authentic. There is no retro gimmick to Love in the Modern Age. This is a masterful storyteller celebrating the nostalgia of his youth with his own feel.”
