Marnie previews the pop perfection of her forthcoming album with new single ‘Alphabet Block’.

As the lead vocalist, keyboard player and songwriter in Ladytron, Helen Marnie is known for being an integral part of one of electro-pop’s pioneering bands. After years of being based in London, she moved back to Glasgow in 2012 and worked on her solo project – releasing her debut album ‘Crystal World’ in 2013. Now she’s back with new single ‘Alphabet Block’, taken from her forthcoming album ‘Strange Words And Weird Wars’ (due for release on 25 March).

The track sees Marnie taking up the mantle laid down by current electro-pop artists – think the soaring sound of Chvrches, blended with Ladyhawke’s sparkling pop and the edginess of Little Boots. The result is a melodic and epic ride on pulsating synths with Marnie’s breathy and shimmering vocals driving the song upwards. As Goldfrapp head in an electro-clash direction this year, with ‘Alphabet Block’ Marnie provides the pure, powerful electro-pop that is reminiscent of their ‘Supernature’ album. It’s the perfect introduction to ‘Strange Words And Weird Wars’, making it one of the most anticipated releases of 2017.

On ‘Alphabet Block’ Marnie gives us a dreamy teaser of a new album that will no doubt cover the essential A-Z elements of perfect pop.
