Droppin’ Knowledge: Brooklyn Pranksters Giggity Share New Single – Hard

Brooklyn hip hop pranksters Giggity have shared a new single from their current album, Wake Up on the Rooftop, released in August. The song, “Hard,” finds the Bushwick, Brooklyn based duo riffing on the word “hard” and its meaning, both inside and outside of hip hop culture.

The group consists of Charlie Smarts, a veteran recording artist from Greensboro, North Carolina, who is a member of Kooley High, and John Pizza, a performance and visual artist, who’s work can be seen on the HBO show High Maintenance and TBS’ The Last O.G. Smarts has also worked with legendary producer 9th Wonder, Little Brother and The Foreign Exchange’s Phonte and the Borough of Queens’ favorite son, Homeboy Sandman.

According to the press release accompanying the single, the pair said this about the song: “Hard is a play on the classic portrayal of rappers, where we are trying to be the most braggadocios of them all. We encapsulate the feeling of Bruce Willis in Die Hard meets Supply, but in 2020.

In October of 2019, Giggity released the single “Rubbers.”
