Droppin’ Knowledge: Cellus Hamilton Shares “Same War” – Listen

New York City – based rhyme artist Cellus Hamilton shares a new single, “Same War,” featuring Chicago emcee Brittney Carter. The song has a jazzy vibe, with pointed lyrics, and a snapping beat. Hamilton and Carter trade bars, as they contemplate the world around them, its struggles and its challenges. Both artists flow with authority, amid electronic keyboard flourishes, and percolating sonics.

In May, Hamilton, who was raised in Atlanta, released the single “Psalm 55,” a lyrically fluid song with a more trap-sounding melody. In that song, Hamilton retells the Psalm with his personal take on the issues it raises. Like “Same War,” “Psalm 55” demonstrates Hamilton’s versatility; he can meet any beat and spit over it with dexterity and confidence.
