Exclusive: Lindsay Munroe records ‘Split’ live in session for Backseat Mafia

Manchester singer-songwriter Lindsay Munroe recently released her debut EP ‘Our Heaviness‘, which caught the ear of, amongst others, Sharon Van Etten, while we loved River taken from EP. We were delighted that Lindsay agreed to record one of the other stand out tracks from the EP – Split, live in session for us here at Backseat Mafia.

On the EP, Lindsay muses “I wrote ‘Our Heaviness’ over a six month period that included a decision to leave the conservative religious environment I was part of and a relationship breakdown. The record is a reflection on the process of deconstructing a life and building it back from new foundations. It came from a place of strength and newfound freedom.”

There’s a rawness and fragility to Split both on record and on the session version Lindsay did for us, and the voice that emanates from her, both the tone and the individuality, is startling.
