Track: Dark Horses release ‘Saturn Returns’ single, ahead of new album ‘Hail Lucid State’

Sometimes it’s nice to be able to sit back and think ‘told you so’. I’m not advocating you say it out loud like a conceited ass. Just, you know, sit back, nice and content that you got it right.

When I heard this week that Nick Cave himself had proclaimed that Dark Horses are “the best band outta Brighton.” I got that feeling. We were right. Nick Cave agrees with us !

We first featured Dark Horses in January 2013. And right from the off we were drawn in by their Andy Warholish videos and art-punk sound. Since then the band have spent 18 months touring Europe and Australia as hand-picked guests for the likes of Beck, Sigor Ros, Tame Impala, Kasabian, The Dandy Warhols and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, they also answered a  personal invitation to join Noel Gallagher at last year’s Teenage Cancer Trust benefit with a highly acclaimed performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Now they’re back with a new album, ‘Hail Lucid State’ due for release on August 26th on the Crystal Castles’ imprint Last Gang Records, and the single ‘Saturn Returns’  on the 18th of August. The album takes the band to the next level. Last year’s debut LP ‘Black Music’ introduced us to the concept of ‘Horse’ music, psyched out, art-punk, and soundscapes. This time round it’s more of the same but with an added layer of edgier more wired punk/pop. Once again the production wizardry is down to Richard Fearless from Death In Vegas, which should be a clear indicator as to the gravity of this release.

‘Saturn Returns’ is released on August 19th 2014. The new album ‘Hail Lucid State’ will be released on August 25th2014, both through Last Gang Records.
