Track: Mark Lanegan Band release new single,”Sad Lover”

Mark Lanegan is inarguably an indie rock institution, having released over 50 albums during his lifetime either solo, through collaborations (such as his work with former Belle and Sebastian member Isobel Campbell) or via his first major band, Screaming Trees. He’s just come off a tour with other legendary stalwarts, Nick Cave and the Band Seeds and is considered by many to be one of the godfathers of Grunge. The appellation legendary is no cliche when applied to Lanegan.

Lanegan has just announced the release a new album (“Phantom Radio”) later this year which will be preceded by a new EP entitled “No Bells On Sunday” being released on 25 August 2014. To whet the appetite, a video is available for the song “Sad Lover” taken from the EP:

It’s the epitome of cool. The video is a great accompaniment to the expansive, driving rhythm of the song, sung in Lanegan’s louche, laid-back style style over train-track rattling guitars. You can pre-order the EP here.
