Track: Baby in Vain – “Worthwhile” + UK tour dates

Danish punk trio Baby In Vain are set to return to the UK this week with a string of dates, including support slots for The Wytches. In addition to the return to these shores, the band have just dropped latest track “Worthwhile”.

Penned by vocal and guitarist, Andrea, the track deals with her growing feelings of pressure as the band progressed from playing for fun in their rehearsal room, to playing bigger and bigger stages. Andrea says: “‘Worthwhile’ is about our blossoming success and how blind it made us, how imprisoned we felt and how we fought to keep our integrity intact in a world where integrity is a rare phenomenon.”

The track itself features more of their characteristic snarling, sludge guitar and sultry vocals, but rather than exploding all over the place, the track is slightly more restrained, but no less potent, than earlier releases ( Corny#1, Taught By Hand, Seize The End ) and demonstrates another tangent to the bands output. All in all it bodes well as an indicator for what to expect when they release their debut album, of which we are reliably informed is just having the finishing touches done.

Over the past few years Baby In Vain have picked up a fearsome reputation for playing some pretty explosive live shows, including; Roskilde Festival, SXSW, The Great Escape and CMJ, as well as performing alongside Ty Segall, Thurston Moore and The Kills. This week see’s them return to the UK for 12 shows alongside The Wytches. Seriously, take it from me that is a combination not to be missed…
