Track: Dot Dash – Daddy Long Legs

If you like your indie rock of the rollocking good time variety, you can bounce up and down and throw your arms in the air to your hearts content at the new track from perennial backseat mafia favourites Dot Dash, Daddy Long Legs. Taken from their recent fifth album, Searchlights, out right now via Ottawa-based The Beautiful Music.

The group, in itself something of a who’s who of indie music, with band members being formerly in the likes of Julie Ocean, Minor Threat, The Saturday People, Government Issue, St. Christopher, amongst others, have played with the likes of The B-52s, Tommy Keene, The Fleshtones, Ash, The Psychedelic Furs, The Chameleons, The Dickies, Hugh Cornwell, The Monochrome Set, Stiff Little Fingers, Glen Matlock, The Bats, Sylvain Sylvain, Urge Overkill, The Drums, The Trashcan Sinatras, Frankie Rose and The Clientele amongst (many) others.

Daddy Long Legs has this this edgy sense of punk about it, the filthy guitar licks wrapping their wicked ways around your ears, as the band go through some blues rock riffs and thrown in an (albeit rather arbitrary) harmonica solo, if the intentions weren’t completely clear. Throw in a Steve Jones like guitar solo, and you’ve got something immediate and damned enjoyable.
