Track: Draag – Lavender Hole

Los Angeles five piece Draag have recently announced the follow up to their self titled album, which dropped earlier in the year with a new EP, Tracii Lordz. Produced by fellow LA experimental rocker Jeff Byron, formerly of The Mae Shi’s, the band Jessica Huang (guitar, keys, and vocals), Adrian De La Cruz (guitar), Carlos Michel (bass, sampler) and Danny Rossi (drums) do an inventive and lovable line in dream rock / shoegaze.

From the EP comes Lavender Hole. It has that warm fuzzyness right from the off, the chugging piano line just a little distractions. The fog clears early as Huang lays her ethereal vocal line on top, as it veers towards a 4AD sort of sound, but it alternates with these huge walls of sound placed in front of it and then ebbs and flows its way through. Huangs sighs and stylings only whip everything up into a swirling ending.

Dizzying stuff.
