Track: Fever the ghost- Vervain dreams of an old wooden cage

It’s usually the 3rd or 4th album where a band decides to expand their sound and throw the kitchen sink at a record, but LA’s Fever The Ghost are choosing to up their game early on. Trying to prove that you can never have too many instruments in a 4 minute pop song is Varvain (Dreams Of An Old Wooden Cage). A preview track released in advance of the forthcoming debut album.

Sounding like the band are rolling down the hill in a brightly coloured barrel while firing lasers at the sky. Varvain drifts through on a post-rock rhythm married to vintage electronica, and almost comprehensible vocals. It’s hard to criticise the bands ambition. Their dress sense though? That’s another question entirely.

The full album Zirconium Meconium is released on Heavenly Recordings on Friday 25th September 2015. Varvain (Dreams Of An Old Wooden Cage) is available now.
