Track: Kate Jackson – Metropolis

Former frontwoman of Backseat Mafia favourites Long Blondes, artist and singer-songwriter Kate Jackson is back with her debut solo album, British Road Movies, out on May 20th via Hoo Ha Records. It was writer by Jackson alongside guitar legend and producer Bernard Butler (Suede, The Tears) at West Heath Studios in London, and features an intoxicating mix of styles, from indie to glam rock, from electronic music to alt-country.

Ahead of its release comes a new track, Metropolis. A sprawling, ambitious pop record, it has the sort of chorus that sticks in the mind, while Butlers guitar sweeps and swoons over the insistent backing, where along with these gloriously stodgy synth chords, it gives us this insistent and driving backing. Over the top Jacksons voice has always been a thing of expression and this is no different. Hows we’ve missed you, Kate Jackson

Backed by her band The Wrong Moves, Catch Jackson at this year’s Great Escape Festival and an instore at Rough Trade East:
