Track: Låpsley – Hurt Me

With her debut album scheduled for early 2016, Southport-raised, London-based singer and producer Holly ‘Låpsley’ Fletcher has revealed Hurt Me, out now on XL Recordings. Flipside Burn has already seen the light of day and provoked something of a reaction from those in the know, while Annie Mac premiered Hurt Me as her Hottest Record in the World.

Backed by various sighing electronics, underpinned by a simple piano line, its Låpsley’s vocal that really sparkles on Hurt Me, as it manages to engage and move you, whilst being essentially electronic pop/soul fare. With its sparkling production and ocasionally beautiful twists (that sudden low piano riff almost takes the breath away) it manages to skillfully skirt round the edges of singer-songwriter landfill, and instead tumble towards the seam of pop gold.
