New Music: Malcolm Middleton – You & I, plus album news

Oh Malcolm Middleton – its been a while. Some seven years in fact, since his last (solo) album Waxing Gibbons. We’ve missed that poetry and prose, that wit and anger and charm and emotion, and for all the listening back over Arab Strap records its nice to have something new to get your teeth into, isn’t it?

Well, there’s a new album, titled ‘Summer of ’13’, which drops on the Nude Records imprint on May 27th, and features guests such as The Lone Pigeon, Martin John Henry of De Rosa and First Aid Kit’s Scott Simpson, all brought to life with the help of Glasgow producer Miaoux Miaoux. The first glimpse of whats to come is a track, You & I. It’s a pulsating electro number, an out there neon disco kind of track, which Middleton reigns in sufficiently with his wisps of melancholy and wisdom to make it compelling and rather beautiful.

It was worth the wait. All the wit, charm , anger and poetry topped off with that pure sweet voice. Makes a day better just listening to it.
    Thank you Malcolm and Jim
