New Music – Resonators – Won’t Suffer / Miles Says EP

Following on from their last single ‘Something Special / Why I (Discomix) (championed by the likes of David Rodigan, Huey Morgan & Don Letts) UK Dub outfit Resonators return with another fresh dubwise offering released on Wah Wah 45s.

Won’t Suffer‘ brings the smooth dub sound with all the elements of the genre played to perfection, low riding bass, a stepping guitar skank and the echo box on full effect. The vocals bring the track to another level giving it the Resonators mark, they could be interpreted as a political message or a comment of life’s ongoing struggles, although it may be unintentional the ambiguity of lyrics allows the listener to personally interpret them, which is always a nice touch. ‘A Telling Dub‘ takes ‘won’t Suffer’ and strips down the vocals to let you bathe in all its heavy dub flavours. On the flip side ‘Miles Says’ lets the sun shine in, a warm reggae feel which takes a step away from the dub (but just for a short while till we hit the dub version) . Vocals fit like a glove, upbeat and feel good its one of those natural high tracks that’s full of positive vibes “Blues, they’re gone, they’re gone”. ‘Truthful Version‘ is another vocal stripped dub beauty, just let the bass take you down and the trumpets lift you up. Enjoy.
