News: Bushfire Relief Concerts – Australia

Australia has been hit with apocalyptic fires this summer and it is great to see the music industry coming together to provide support for the community.

One concert entitled Down to Earth will to raise precious funds for for immediate fire relief via Red Cross and WIRES, as well as funding organisations that focus on long term solutions, education and leadership for the fire and climate emergency in Australia.

Down To Earth will feature performances by Angus and Julia Stone, Briggs, Gang Of Youths, Jack River, Ruby Fields, Tash Sultana and Thelma Plum., and 100% of revenue will go to support relief efforts across Australia.

Representatives organizing this concert have said:

‘Collectively, our hearts go out to the families who have lost loved ones, the firies who have put their lives on the line and continue to, and the communities across Australia suffering. We hope to give you the greatest thing we can in this time of great need – our voices and our songs.’

The gig takes place on Wednesday 26 February at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, in Melbourne, and you can get tickets here.

There are plenty of other events being organised by musicians taking place across Australia. For example, Brisbane’s 4000 Records is donating all proceeds from its artists in January to support relief efforts – for details see here.
