News: Elvis Costello reveals new album ‘Hey Clockface’ plus releases new single.

The legendary Elvis Costello has confirmed his welcome return to the music scene with the announcement of a new album ‘Hey Clockface’ on 30 October 2020 as he releases a new single ‘We are All Cowards Now’.

Of the album itself, Costello says:

I wanted the record to be vivid, whether the songs demanded playing that was loud and jagged or intimate and beautiful.

You can imagine the range of songwriting Costello is capable of from the fruits of his extraordinary career, and the artists collaborating with him – whom he names collectively as Le Quintette Saint Germain – emphasises his command. The band consists of the iconic Steve Nieve (who plays grand piano, upright piano, organ, mellotron & melodica), Mickaél Gasche on trumpet, flugel horn and serpent, Pierre-François ‘Titi’ Dufour on cello and the drums, percussion and high harmonies of Ajuq and reed player Renaud-Gabriel Pion.

The album was recorded between Helsinki and Paris.

‘We Are All Cowards’ is such a warm and welcome return to the distinct vocals and verbal word play of Costello. His smooth almost laconic delivery wraps his keen observational words in velvet:
