NEWS: Slowdive back in the studio for their fifth, Insta photos reveal

NOW here’s some news to cheer any autumnally affected, guitar-lovin’ heart: Rachel Goswell of first-generation shoegaze luminaries has published a couple of pictures over on her Instagram account strongly suggesting that the much-loved band, who reformed in 2014 and who released their brilliant, self-titled fourth album in 2017, are back in the studio and beginning work on a fifth.

The two pictures – one of a drum kit set up and ready to go, and one of Neil Halstead from the rear, sat with guitar – are both tagged #slowdivelp5.

The pictures have also appeared on Slowdive’s official Insta account, along with one of bassist Nick Chaplin busy laying down sonics, surrounded by studio gear.

Now that’s a development to watch eagerly.

The band’s official Twitter account confirmed the news overnight – saying “We are indeed”.

If, like me, this news causes no end of excitement, follow Slowdive on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram – it looks like there’s some guitar beauty to come.
