Premiere: Apparitions give us an exclusive look at the video for their new single ‘The Sailor Orates’ (feat. Luke Henery)

Brisbane’s dynamic Apparitions are premiering their buzzing new single ‘The Sailor Orates’ here at Backseat Mafia. With a guest vocal from Luke Henery from one of Australia’s foremost post-punk bands, Violent Soho, this is a rough-hewn diamond of a track: low-fi, sincere and with a rumble that pulsates and resonates.

‘The Sailor Orates’ is filled with a sense of veracity in its delivery and the intertwining vocals add a sense of movement and colour through the catchy melody. Guitars drive and jangle, the rhythm section provides a thundering carriage. And throughout the bluster, there remains a delicacy and sensitivity.

How did the collaboration with Henery happen?

All I had heard of Luke’s voice were when I heard him singing in (Violent) Soho, and because we have known each other for 15 years, watching his photography develop while being able to share stages, (after) one of the various countless beers sessions (he) got to singing on the record. That’s pretty much it. It’s not an elaborate story, but it never would’ve been.

The track is accompanied by a fantastic tripartite split screen, showcasing the band and their guest as well as the dynamic scenery passing by: quintessentially Queensland.

The single is off Apparition’s new album ‘Capacity’ which is out on Monday, 11 October 2020 through the admirable purveyor of local talent, False Peak Records. You can pre-order the album through the link below:
