Premiere: Ashlynn Malia’s head and heart are at war on new single ‘Temporary’

Relationships are tricky, whether interpersonal or romantic. You don’t need us to tell you that. They say all’s fair in love and war, but when head and heart are at war over love, which side wins? Would you rather be alone? On her imminent debut EP, Ashlynn Malia—who has been active in the music industry since early adolescence—gets to grips with this question, and her new song ‘temporary’ finds her wrestling with conflicting emotions. The EP is out tomorrow, and we have your first listen of the song here, in the form of its lyric video.

Of the song, the Los Angeles-based Malia says, ‘I got the inspiration for “temporary” from a dream. I woke up with feelings for someone who I knew I didn’t actually like, hence the ‘I hope [the feelings] will be gone by tomorrow line. The production is dark and intense and reflects the panic going on in my head while my two conflicting realities were at war.‘ Tune in below; the 6-track EP is out at midnight via Julian/The Orchard.
