Premiere: Don’t ‘Put It All On Me’ – MacGregor Burns unveils his enigmatic indie pop plea ahead of new album.

We are very honoured to premiere the single ‘Put It All On Me’ from MacGregor Burns. Burns is Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter who has a fascinating resumé, having worked an eclectic mix of jobs, from Hollywood tour guide and pet relocation specialist to substitute teacher and water polo referee. He brings his varied experience to the track which is a driving thrum of electronica with a Howard Devoto-style instrumentation and a hint of The Psychedelic Furs or Jona Lewie.

Burns says of the track:

Put it all on me is a desperate, wailing rock tune, which conveys my sense of detachment from previous failures in the form of a driving 4 on the floor high horse slug fest. Luke Temple shaped the new waves production choices with punk bass lines and some heavy synth lines.

It’s very much an eighties-influenced melancholic anthemic pop song, coasting on a bed of synths, an ambulant bass and popping percussion, building up to a satisfying crescendo.

The track is described as being a sad boy anthem—a longing cry to shift the blame and it results in a raw, expressive delivery with a motorik drive: melodic and filled with longing, as any good pop song should be:

‘Put It All On Me’ is out on Wednesday, 5 February 2025 through Burns’s Jitney Boy label with promotion through the esteemed Future Gods label, and will be available to download and stream via all the usual sites on Wednesday. An album release is slated for later this year.
