PREMIERE: Field Guide wants to ‘Make Peace With That’, shares loved-up new song ‘Me & You’

Field Guide

Sometimes you uproot your life right before a global pandemic, which is to say that it was incredibly unfortunate timing for Canadian Dylan MacDonald when he did that early last year, moving to Toronto where it rapidly became clear that his only option was to focus on writing music – it was a fraught but fruitful time for him as he then made a break for Winnipeg, with enough in tow for two EPs and his debut album. You Were was released last July; The Way It Would Be followed a couple of months ago, and that debut album is arriving in September.

Of the circumstances which surrounded its creation, MacDonald says that, “[t]he world shut down and I started looking inward, writing and writing some more. In the summer of 2020 I rented a van and drove back to Manitoba to make this album with my dear friends, I hope you like it!” It’s certainly shaping up well, and ahead of its next single being released tomorrow, we’re delighted to premiere it.

MacDonald’s latest offering as Field Guide is a disarmingly sweet song called ‘Me & You’, which sets a tale of domestic bliss and loved-up romantic chemistry to a mid-tempo, deceptively busy backing that features a sizeable amount of slide guitar. Straddling the line between alt-country and folk, the song’s there and gone in little more than two minutes, but there’s plenty of replay value within. Tune in below; its parent album Make Peace With That lands on Friday September 17th via Birthday Cake.
