Premiere: Gard Read Blends Singer-Songwriter Tendencies With Pop Production On New Single ‘Don’t Save Me’

Norwegian-English pop singer-songwriter Gard Read is back with his new single ‘Don’t Save Me’ and we’re excited to be running the premiere!

An acoustic guitarist and singer, ‘Don’t Save Me’ opens with a soft finger-picked acoustic guitar line under Gard’s silky vocal, lulling you into a false sense of calm before the tempo picks up and the track soon bursts into life with massive, pulsing, synth-heavy production. Boasting an ear-worm chorus worthy of Ed Sheeran, Gard’s songwriting cannot be faulted – emotional, honest and displaying undeniable commercial appeal. As only his second release, the new single demonstrates a remarkably professional edge and strikingly complete sound.

Holding a hard-hitting message surrounding the struggles people experience facing up to and healing from mental health issues, ‘Don’t Save Me’ goes deeper than just being a banging pop tune. Gard Explains: “Don’t Save Me is about being in a dark place, where it can be hard to escape. Humans can be ashamed, scared, or just stubborn when struggling, but you cannot help those who don’t want to be helped. Healing comes in many forms, though it will never be the same. What was broken can harden and become stronger. But you have to want it first.”
