Premiere: HYMNS return with the dark alt-rock of Reset ahead of new EP

London alt-rock band HYMNS are gearing up for the release of their new EP Reset, out on April 30th by releasing the title track – officially out on April 16th, but we’re delighted to be able to premiere it right here on Backseat Mafia today.

Of the track, frontman Oliver Hooper says, “Written in a time of great political and social unrest, people continue to celebrate and prioritise capital gain and empty technological breakthroughs (colonizing Mars, etc) at the expense of humanity and our ‘own’ planet earth. The song is a call to arms for change before it’s too late.”

Following in the footsteps of Black Sabbath, Interpol, Nine Inch Nails and the like, there’s a bleakness and an edge about Reset, as the band lyrically take a look at heading into a dystopian world. Soaked in this melody that pulls you in and wraps itself around you, Hoopers baritone and these wiry guitar lines bring to mind the likes of Editors. Brilliant stuff.
