Premiere: Jack The Box reveal Paul Johnson remix of Heat

Ahead of the re-issue of their lauded ‘Side A’ album, Jack The Box, the Berlin based duo comprising Chicago house icon Tyree Cooper and Bobby Starrr are releasing three new remixes to their track Heat, and we’re delighted to be able to premiere the legendary Paul Johnsons remix right here on Backseat Mafia. The other two remixes, all of which are out on Novemeber 6th via Hypernatural, are from Glasgow producer James Johnston and Bristol’s Lil Mark.

Of the remix, Tyree Cooper says “It’s always a slight fear when giving up special files to anyone but Paul Johnson has more house music history in his little finger than most folks have in their whole career, ” while Bobby Starrr adds “We love his take on `Heat` that slaps you into submission then takes you on a ride to his home spot in Chicago, a true innovator of house, in the truest sense of the word”.

Johnsons take on the tune leaves Mandel Turner’s vocals, itself an act of poetry on the force of house music, intact, instead giving the whole thing a hard-edged but dancefloor wrapped feel, throwing some acid house stylings here and a touch of the techno there, that couldn’t be from anywhere other than Chicago.

Get down, and get it on. House music is alive and well people.

Previous Track: Katatonia - Behind The Blood
Next Track: Motherland - Starting Blocks
