Premiere: Joel Stanton reveals new video / single, Pay Me Please

Los Angeles indie / electronic artist, Joel Stanton is back with a new single, Pay Me Please, taken from his upcoming album ‘In Harmony’, and we’re delighted to premiere it right here on Backseat Mafia today.

Of the track, Joel says “The song confronts the ego-bruising nature of the creative hustle, on a bed of analog synths and groovy rhythms. The single is accompanied by a video; a jumble of cheeky public domain clips from 1950s films.”

It’s a bubbling slice of warm synth-pop, with Stanton’s vocal sitting pretty over the top. It has this hint of the psych-pop (Stanton is also singer of psych-poppers Perfect Families), as the lines of synth playfully weave in and out of eachother, the pull of the dancefloor strong, as the whole thing has this Hot Chip sort of feeling. And that must be a good thing, right?
