PREMIERE: John Dwyer is at it again on Gong Splat’s self-titled debut album

You know John Dwyer, right? Him from the Osees/Oh Sees/OCS etc.? If so, you know he’s famously prolific, and even though his main gig have taken a year off from releasing anything under their various aliases, Dwyer’s put out albums as part of Bent Arcana and Witch Egg this year alone.

Never one to miss an opportunity, he’s going for the hat-trick to see out the year. Dwyer makes up one-fifth of Gong Splat, the lineup completed by Ryan Sawyer, Greg Coates, Wilder Zoby and Andres Renteria. We’ve got an upfront stream of their self-titled debut album for you if you’re looking for a 40-minute slab of exploratory psychedelic space jazz.

Dwyer tells us that there’s a little cross-pollination going on: “It’s a sort of sister record to Witch Egg. Fried, improvised fusion recorded at home over the course of a few super relaxed days in the middle of a world in torment. Triple synthesizers, guitar, double bass and percussion for days.Enjoy some spontaneous music before the wolf chews through the door!”

It’s out tomorrow via Castle Face. Tuck in below.
