Premiere: SHEMY releases the irresistible pop punk of Something Bout You

Out today is the new single from Flint, MI singer-songwriter, rapper and all round musical polymath SHEMY. Taken from his forthcoming ‘Awkwardly Confident’ album, our on May 5th, the track is called ‘Something Bout You’ and we’re delighted to have the UK premiere of it right here on Backseat Mafia.

It’s the follow up to his much lauded Cobra Kai track, which currently has half a million listens on Spotify, and it features producer and visual artist Foxchase as well as Thailand’s chart topping Dane Amar.

Telling the tale of an unforgotten high school relationship that he can’t kick, Something Bout You treads carefully along a pop punk tip, adding a little more pop to proceedings with the chorus, and spilling electro percussion over the track. There’s plenty of the punk evident though, with hard edged guitars and a good deal of attitude that’ll have you dancing in the aisles. Throw in some Uber-catchy melodies and you’re on to a winner.
