PREMIERE: Stream Eric Schroeder’s second album of 2021 in full ahead of release tomorrow

Eric Schroeder

If you haven’t been keeping up, San Diego’s Eric Schroeder released his most recent album in April – a deeply personal offering that was, as Donnie and Marie Osmond didn’t quite say, a little bit alt-country, a little bit rock’n’roll. Called The Kid, it would have been an impressive enough collection on its own, but Schroeder’s year isn’t done yet.

He’s releasing an entire new record tomorrow. Yup. It’s damn good. Perhaps even better than The Kid. Listener opinion may vary, of course, but The Crucifixion of Eric Schroeder is another example of why his output is well worth your time. It’s produced and engineered by Kevin Basko, whom you may also know as Rubber Band Gun. Per Schroeder: “Half of the songs were written on a month-long writing spree, while the others were picked from a back [catalogue] of three months’ worth of music. This album is intended to be as deep in its country and folk roots just as it is deep in rock and roll music, while still never completely one or the other. These are some of the best character narratives I have written and also some of my most personal and transparent songs.”

Check out a full stream below; it’s out imminently via Earth Libraries. Chances are you’re hooked by opener ‘Be Alone’, which we cannot stress enough absolutely rips.
