Premiere: The Gloomies release new video for ‘Nightlight’

Ahead of the release of their album ‘Are we getting better?’, out March 6th, Southern California’s The Gloomies (essentially the work of Andy Craig) have given Backseat Mafia the premiere for the track ‘Nightlight’.

It’s a woozy, laid back slice of indie funk, nodding a head towards the likes of Unknown Mortal Orchestra and the like, and is blessed with this melancholic melody that wraps itself around you like a comfort blanket. Of the track, Andy says “Nightlight came from a time in my life when I had incredibly bad insomnia. The band and I would be up all night long recording and messing around on new songs. This was happening over the course of months, and everything started to sort of blur together. This song is about that state and how it feels to become lost in that haze.”

Motorcycles were a very important part of Andy’s childhood and the 8mm film perfectly accompanies the slow driving nostalgia feel of the track. Check it out, here
