Say Psych: Track: Hey Bulldog – Death & Greed

Manchester’s garage rockers Hey Bulldog have this week announced new single ‘Death And Greed’ set for release on 4th October via Doing it to Death Records & Sister 9 Recordings. To coincide with the release, they are playing at Astral Elevator’s The Psych Rising at Manchester’s Night People on 5 October.

The grunge laden, riff-based track is the bands’ heaviest to date and is a lament to the modern times and follows a busy summer of festival appearances including Kendal Calling for the 2nd year running and Cotton Clouds Festival. Recorded by Paul Blakeman at Big Wow Studios Sheffield on an analog recording desk once owned by Peter Gabriel, ‘Death And Greed’ was mixed by Dave Sanderson (65 Days Of Static, Jim Jones Revue). It will be Hey Bulldog’s first two track 7” record, coming in strictly limited edition individually numbered form with the B-side ‘If They Could See’.

They waste no time in opening the track with racey guitar riffs and powerful drumming that steers throughout. The bass line complements the drums and the two work to provide an empowered setting for the guitar and vocals which compete for attention over the top. It’s a brave move by the band who have been known for softer offerings previously but shows their versatility and raw power.
